How to use this website
For first time users, you'll need to register. In the left navigation panel, click the register link which is just below the logo. If it's not there, then you're probably already logged in. It should say "Logged in: [your name]". If you're already registered, but not logged in, click the Log-in link and enter your username and password. Once this is done, you're ready to submit an article or news, or comment on another user's article or news.
To submit an article or news item, simply click the CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT AN ARTICLE! link which can be found under the mini-calendar. This will bring up the submission page, which features three text boxes. The first is where you place the title of your news or article. The second, marked abstract, is where you place a paragraph or two giving introduction to your detailed article, or the whole article or news if it's reasonably brief. This is the part that will appear on the main greens website. The last is the full text box, where a very long article may be posted if you wish. This will be accessed by users clicking on Click For Full Article Text beneath your abstract text.
To format your article, you can either use basic html if you know it, or use pmCode, which is a really easy way to mark up text for formatting. Text that you paste into any of these boxes will be totally unformatted, except that line breaks are retained. A brief tutorial on pmCode is below:
To make a link to another website (a hyperlink), use:
www.smh.com.au
for example. This will create a link like www.smh.com.au. To create a link that looks like this: Sydney Morning Herald use
Sydney Morning Herald
Pretty simple! Similarly for email, Email Someone can be achieved using
Email Someone
To insert an image that is located somewhere on the internet, simply write

for example. So surround the URL to the image with

You may specify the font size and colour if you wish. This can be done by surrounding whatever text you want to modify with

tags (where 4 can be any number from 1 to 10. Colour is done with

(or red or blue or whatever) because the backend software is American. There's no problem with putting both size and colour and other formatting tags around the one piece of text like:
BIG RED TEXT
More basic formatting is done by using the following tags:
bold text here
[strong]strong text here[/strong]
[em]some em text[/em]
some italic text
some underlined text
If you'd like to quote somebody elses text, use
someone else's text here
To make or view comments, click the comments link at the bottom of any post. From there you may post a comment using the submission box at the bottom of the page. While articles or news require approval before they appear, comments do not. Please be considerate.
